Where do you find joy?

Where do you find joy” scritta a settembre scorso.

I have a full life. A privileged life. An unendangered life.

But sometimes the simple joys escape me. Joy is not always a feeling that is freely bestowed upon us, often it is something we must actively seek.

In a way, joy is a decision, an action, even a practised method of being.

It is an earned thing brought into focus by what we have lost – at least, it can seem that way. My question is, where or how do you find your joy?

Dear Nick, this is a quick answer to your question on RHF 299: where or how do you find your joy?

I find joy in going for a walk with my partner every morning, an hour long walk in a nearby park. We chat, look around at people walking dogs or jogging and cherish to be alive. Or argue over something.

I find joy in waking up before her, preparing the breakfast, and gently cuddle her up to the new day with kisses and hugs. Again, every morning. Sometimes she wakes up before me and returns the favour.
